HNG PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 27 OCT 2011 - KOLKATA
I am presenting here my experience I received in campus drive conducted
by Hindustan National Glass at TICT(Kolkata) on 27th October 2011.
On 27th October 2011 Hindustan National Glass (HNG) conducted their campusing programme.
The first phase of this campus drive was conducted at Techno India, Saltlake and the second phase was conducted at their Rishra plant.
Nature of campusing :
Actually it was a pool campusing. All the colleges under Techno India group were allowed at that venue.
Eligibility Criteria :
The B.Tech students with 60% throughout from class X-th onwards were allowed for attending this campus drive. Only the students of EE, AEIE and ME departments would sit for the interviews. Actually from our college I was selected as a student under the left over top 5 students.
Selection Procedure :
The whole campusing programme consists of five parts.
(i) PPT (Pre-Placement Talk).
(ii) Aptitude test.
(iii) Technical + HR Interview.
(iv) Technical Interview.
(v) President meeting.
I am a student of Electrical Engineering department. I wrote “Power System” as my favorite subject in the CV. Here I am sharing some of my experiences.
First of all the PPT was presented to us. It was very nice session. Mainly the presentation was done by the General Manager of HNG. He came from Delhi to attend this drive. He was a very nice person. In such a way he made us understood the whole fact that it is still in my mind. He was focusing on the topic of Thinking Bigger.
(ii) Aptitude Test
The Aptitude test consists of two sections namely Quantitative and Technical. Total there were 75 questions and the time was 1 hour. There were 25 questions from the quantitative portion and rest 50 questions were from technical sections. To me the quantitative questions were fairly easy. Specially there were some questions related to Tables, block diagrams and Bar charts which could be easily solved with little concentration. Besides Blood relations, Probability, average, ratios and time & work, reasoning type problems were there. Two separate OMR sheets were given to us for the same. No negative markings or no cut-offs were there.
I survived the test.
(iii) Technical +
Next we remained very few in the hall for the coming up round. It was the Technical cum HR round. Group-wise they were calling the names of the short listed candidates from the Aptitude test. It was a 3:1 interview. The most surprising thing was that one of those three persons was the GM. If I simplify it then this session can be subdivided into three portions, namely, Technical, HR and Motivational. In Technical part I was asked some questions like What is grid, why grid is there; they gave me a problem related to transformer action (Though I couldn’t answer it properly). Next the GM took the HR part. He asked me to tell any characteristics out of my CV. Next he asked me to answer why they would hire me. Lastly the third person asked me some motivational questions like if I would give any exam like GATE, CAT etc, if I am ready to serve them. I remained confident to my point. The interview was over there. Next they told me to wait outside.
After half an hour result was announced by the GM. I survived again. Total 7 students were selected for the next round including 4 from EE and 3 from AEIE. Surprisingly none from ME.
The campusing programme at Techno India was over there. Next we had to go to their Rishra plant. The day was 2nd of November, 2011. First we had to wait there. Next an engineer described the whole operation of the Glass manufacturing plant there, by taking us to the various parts of the plant.
After that we had our Technical round. It was a simple 1:1 interview. The interviewer asked me first about my favorite subject, I showed my interested about the protection part in a power system. So he asked me to show the process of installing Earth fault and Over current relay in the three phase circuit. I stuck at the point of showing the C.T. in the diagram, so I had to clear that portion. Next he asked that what the emf equation of a transformer is. I answered somehow (I was confused). Next question was what happens if we increase the flux in a transformer beyond the limit. At last he asked what flux is (From physical view point).
Next we had our Lunch break at their canteen. The whole arrangement was really very good.
Next it’s the time for the announcement of the result.
But alas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was not selected there. 2 from both EE and AEIE group were selected. They bid good bye to us.
For the next portions I have no physical experience. But I have come to know from those friends that next they had an interview session with the President of the Plant. Mainly it was a HR interview. And I have also heard about the fact that there was no further announcement. But I am sorry, because I have no information regarding the ultimate selection.
IT WAS THE FOURTH TIME I ATTENDED FOR CAMPUS DRIVE. BEFORE THIS I WAS REJECTED FROM TCS, ACCENTURE, AND BOC CAMPUSING. SO I KNOW WHAT THE GRIEFS FOR NOT BEING SELECTED ARE. BUT I HAD BELIEF IN GOD. AND I HOPED THAT HE WOULD SURELY GIVE ME THE GOOD RESULT. THANKS TO ALL THE HNG TEAM, MY FRIENDS, MY PARENTS AND MY T.P.O SIR AND OTHER FACULY MEMBERS OF MY COLLEGE FOR SUPPORTING ME THROUGHOUT THE SESSION. HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU SOMEHOW.
